Online fame was a bit of a shock for Conor Maynard

  • March 6, 2012
  • Mikey

Fame came as a big surprise to unassuming popstar and 'the next Justin Bieberlake', Conor Maynard.

Speaking about the early days of his career, Conor told Attitude: "People online started adding me on Facebook. And I was saying, 'I'm sorry, I don't think I know you'".

It turns out they were a legion of future 'Mayniacs', but the budding popstar was seemingly just as incredulous when a strange man on the internet asked Conor to Skype with him.

"Someone got in contact with me, claiming to be working really closely with Ne-Yo," he explained, "and I was thinking, 'this is blatantly my dad upstairs faking it'."

Rather your dad than a 45-year-old intent on bumming your head off, Conor.
