There are — astonishingly — two interesting things about the new Ali Campbell single

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3aBVgEaMns

1.
It's 'Out From Under', the 'big ballad' on Britney's current album. It's not the greatest song in the world in anybody's hands but it's also a ditty bulletproof enough to emerge unscathed from this mauling. As it happens Ali's version is, in fact, rather pleasant in a pointless MOR sort of way, and it's certainly no less heartfelt than Britney's own distracted bash at the track.

2. The video entitled 'Fan Guidelines' (above) really is quite something. In the video (which we're assuming is not the song's actual video, although it would be brilliantly anarchic if it was) Ali and freelance anti-piracy busybodies Web Sheriff inform fans what is 'cool' and what is not 'cool' to do with Ali's music in the run-up to Campbell's new album release. This is either the most excuciatingly pointless attempt to put genies back in bottles of recent times or some incredibly clever viral marketing (as the entire industry and 'blogosphere' discusses the precise extent of Ali Campbell's bellendedness). It's basically the former but it's nicer to believe that it might be the latter, isn't it.
