The new Saturdays single is better than a not very good Saturdays single, according to their manager

One of the things we almost admire about The Saturdays is that they have tirelessly knocked out an email newsletter every Saturday (DO YOU SEE) for what seems like about 800 years. They're usually full of interesting-to-fans guff involving product endorsements and 'content' filmed on a certain popular point-and-shoot video camera but this weekend's did feature some proper actual news, namely that their new single 'Missing You' will be out on August 9, accompanied by this photograph (above) from the single's video shoot.

Yes readers we know what you're thinking: Mel C's 'I Turn To You'. And if this single is one fifth as good as 'I Turn To You'* The Saturdays will be laughing. (It should, really, be five times as good, considering there are currently five members of The Saturdays.) The other day we asked The Saturdays' manager if 'Missing You' was better than 'Forever Is Over' and she said yes, so we do at least know that it is better than a load of old rubbish.

We know this news will come as a blow to many of you, because the announcement of a new single off a new album means that rubbish ballad 'Deeper' will never be released as a single off 'Wordshaker', and the world will never get to hear the tragic will-this-do tribute to lame songwriting. All we can say is that while dreams of 'Deeper' struggling to the lower reachers of the Top 50 may be dashed, the song will live on for many weeks to come as fans' 20th most popular Saturdays song, and that seems a fitting role. Do not shed a tear, readers. Just remember the good times.
