Eight noteworthy releases from the next seven weeks

 • February 9, 2012
 • Popjustice

FEBRUARY 13:
DJ Fresh feat Rita Ora — 'Hot Right Now'

This track would be 28% better without the "eh-oh, eh-oh" bits (a bit of a songwriting copout, right?) but DJ Fresh's album is shaping up to be a massive corker and Rita's star quality explodes out of this video. Rita's playing Yoyo in London tonight; she's @ritaora on Twitter.

Also out this week:

Azari & III — 'Reckless (With Your Love)'
Cut Copy – 'Sun God'
Daniela Brooker — 'Forgot About Yesterday'
Emeli Sandé — 'Next To Me'
Kosheen — 'Get A New One'
Martin Solveig & Dragonette – 'Big In Japan'
Scissor Sisters vs Krystal Pepsy – 'Shady Love'

FEBRUARY 20:
Matt Cardle — 'Amazing'

This song is not amazing.

Also out this week:

Anna Calvi — 'Jezebel'
Cher Lloyd feat Astro – 'Want U Back'
Grouplove – 'Colours'
James Morrison — 'Slave To The Music'
PNAU — 'Unite Us'

FEBRUARY 27:
Niki & The Dove — 'DJ Ease My Mind' / Icona Pop — 'Top Rated'

This epic chart battle is all a bit of a rum old do what with Niki & The Dove and 'The Pop' being managed by the same people Do you think it is a bit like when Mikey Graham released his solo single on the same day as Stephen Gately in the hope that people wandering off to Woolworths for the latter might happen to chance upon and feel obliged to buy the latter? Actually is the Icona Pop song actually out this week? We're not sure. Look we're not being funny right but MEMO TO MANAGEMENT: sack off Dave or whatever 'The Dove' is called, get Icona Pop to joint Niki, rename the whole thing Iconiki Pop or something (or just keep Icona Pop, it's a great band name), have the world's greatest girl trio, job done. Right? Right.

Also out this week:

Birdy — '1901'
Chiddy Bang – 'Ray Charles'
Dappy feat Brian May — 'Rock Star'
Darren Hayes — 'Bloodstained Heart'
Demi Lovato — 'Skyscraper'
Ed Sheeran – 'Drunk'
Friction — 'Led Astray'
Icona Pop — 'Top Rated'
Magnetic Fields — 'Andrew In Drag'
Utah Saints Vs Drumsound & Bassline Smith — 'What Can You Do For Me?'

MARCH 5:
Rebecca Ferguson — 'Too Good To Lose'

Starts boring, gets interesting: the new Rebecca Ferguson single is the Borgen of pop. If you listen to this thinking 'hm, those ravey bits really could turn this song into something of a banger', we refer you to the Seamus Haji remix, recently featured as a Popjustice Song Of The Day. It's extremely good.

Also out this week:
Dot Rotten – 'Are You Not Entertained?'
Foster The People – 'Don't Stop (Color On The Walls)'
Lady Antebellum — 'Dancin' Away With My Heart'
Loverush UK! feat Bryan Adams — 'Tonight In Babylon'
Marcus Collins – 'Seven Nation Army'
Mike Posner — 'Looks Like Sex'
Nero — 'Must Be The Feeling'
Sean Paul — 'She Doesn’t Mind'
StooShe feat Travie McCoy — 'Fuck Me'
Tinchy Stryder feat Pixie Lott — 'Bright Lights'

MARCH 12:
IT BOYS! – 'Guys Don't Like Me'

Jesus Christ.

Also out this week:
Adam Lambert — 'Better Than I Know Myself'
Alexandra Burke feat Eric Morillo – 'Elephant'
Angel feat Wretch 32 — 'Go In Go Hard'
Ladyhawke — 'Black White & Blue'
Nervo feat Afrojack & Steve Aoki – 'We're All No One'
Red Hot Chili Peppers — 'Look Around'

MARCH 19:
Will Young — 'Losing Myself'

We found this quite pleasant remix on YouTube — it's not really very different to the proper version, but just different enough to be 'of note'.

Also out this week:
Blood Red Shoes – 'Cold'
JLS – 'Proud'
Mohombi — 'In Your Head'
Rihanna feat Jay‑Z and Kanye West – 'Talk That Talk'

MARCH 26:
Feist — 'The Bad In Each Other'

This was the first song we heard from the new Feist album. "Bloody hell," we thought. "If the rest of the album is as good as this it'll be a complete triumph." The rest of the album was not as good as this.

Also out this week:
Charlie Simpson — 'Farmer & His Gun'
Chris Brown — 'Turn Up The Music'
Drake feat Lil' Wayne — 'The Motto'
Rizzle Kicks — 'Traveller's Chant'
