Tinie Tempah can't stop talking about Adele's success

  • May 27, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Tinie Tempah has told Billboard he's been "inspired" by Adele's success in America.

The rapper — who, as he's mentioned before, knows Adele personally — said he wanted to do for British rappers what Adele has done for British singers. Not that you'd even know Adele was British, apparently.

"When you sing you can't really tell where you're from based on how you sing … which is why I think that rapping and somebody being able to break out here being a rapper from a different country … is a very, very big deal," he said.

Talking about his success in America ('Written In The Stars' has sold over a million copies and 'Disc-Overy' has just entered the album chart at number 21), Tempah said it's all a bit perplexing. "[American] radio formats are confusing me even now," he said. "I still don't understand what rhythmic and Top 40 is. Can someone tell me please?"

Come and sit on our knee, Tinie. We'll tell you all about it.
