The Wanted have been talking about their impressive longevity

  • November 14, 2013
  • Marc Ridley

The WantedThe Wanted have been talking about how tricky it is for a pop band to achieve long-term success.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Tom from the band said: "I think for any band, I think it's very difficult to always sustain a certain level."

"And I think especially when we came in with a number one single ['All Time Low'], you set a precedent then to stay at number one."

The Wanted's latest album, 'Word of Mouth', which was released last week, entered the charts at Number 9.

Tom continues: "And when you don't stay at number one, the critics are like 'Well, that's the fall of The Wanted'. It's not really. It's just very difficult to stay there."

He also explained that the group's world tour probably harmed their popularity in the UK. He said: "I think it's been worth us going around the world, even though the UK market might have taken a bit of a hit. I feel like its been worth it for the growth of the band worldwide."

So there you have it.
