The Discovery Channel have employed popstars to help on a new nature series

The music and dulcet tones of Christina Aguilera, Ellie Goulding and Usher will soundtrack a new Discovery Channel series taking a closer look at the wonders of the natural world.

The six-part series — entitled Hello World! — will start on July 9 and also feature august racket merchants Joan Jett, Dave Matthews and Steven Tyler because, well, why not.

Here's an example of how it will work: Picasso of Pop Usher's episode will feature his song 'Stronger' soundtracking a sea turtle and a red fox demonstrating how adversity makes them more resilient.

“Not many people may know of my strong affinity for animals and nature,” he mused in a statement (as quoted here). “Hello World gave me an opportunity to not only look cool to my boys, but also help introduce a new and modern way of learning about the world and the animals living within it.”

Aguilera’s episode, meanwhile, uses her song 'Light Up the Sky' to help showcase the strategies of strong maternal caregivers including a mountain goat and a cheetah.

To be honest, Christina was just happy to get some voiceover work:

“I was thrilled when I was asked to come aboard to be part of Hello World as I had never done voiceover work prior and the experience was amazing.”

If you're wondering how they're going to shoehorn in an Ellie Goulding song then wonder no more — her episode features 'Something In The Way You Move' playing over images of animals trying to attract a mate.

Good grief.
