The BBC spent £7m more on music radio in 2012 than in the previous year, according to a new report

  • July 17, 2012
  • Aoife Moriarty

The BBC’s annual report has revealed that £7m extra was spent on music radio by the organisation in the past financial year.

According to a report by Music Week, the Beeb spent an extra £2.5m on Radio 1 for the 12 month period ending March 31, 2012, with a rise in spending from £48.1m to £50.6m.

They also increased annual investment in other music stations, including Radio 3, 6Music and 1Xtra.

However funding was down elsewhere. According to the report: "The big casualties of music radio’s increased investment appear to be sports and talk radio."

OH WELL.
