Simon Webbe is upset about nobody being interested in 'I Can'

  • April 27, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Blue's Simon Webbe has banged on a bit about what he perceives to be a lack of interest in the band's Eurovision single, 'I Can'.

Talking to the Daily Mirror, the 'Ride The Storm' chartbotherer expressed anger at the fact that the single has only been played 22 times in three months. “We’re trying to do this for our country and our country isn’t backing us," he said.

The single has so far not been playlisted by Radio 2 — the UK's Eurovision station.

A BBC spokesperson countered that the station "has played the song across the schedule where editorially appropriate" and though not on the playlist at the moment, it "may be considered, on merit, in due course”.

That 'on merit' bit has got to be bad news for old Webbo, hasn't it.
