Shaggy's upset about the lack of "classic" songs in the charts at the moment

  • August 1, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

'Fired Up (Fuck the Rece$$ion) feat Pitbull' hitmaker Shaggy doesn't think anyone's making "classic" songs anymore.

"I make the music I want to make, it's a different game out there now," he told BANG Showbiz (as quoted here). "The type of music that's going out in the charts isn't the type of music I want to make."

Naming no names, the thinking man's Flo Rida went on: "A lot of the stuff that many people are putting out, I really don't think will be classics. They're hot now, but I'm not sure it'll last."

"I like making really classic songs," the 'Gal Yu A Pepper' mastermind continued, "I don't worry about chart positions and all of that, that's not where my head is. Everybody likes hit records, but there's no point worrying."

Also, he's not going to work with whoever's hot just to get a hit record. That's not Shaggy's way.

"Everything I do is about the relationship," the 'Me Julie' star added. "Some people just want to collaborate with people because they are hot. No disrespect, but doing the record is not just recording, it's promoting it, its dealing with their egos and their management."
