Katy Perry used to be paid in avocados when she first started out as a singer.
Having a chat in the latest issue of GQ (as quoted here), the 'Unconditionally' hitmaker painted the following picture using words:
"I'd go to the farmers' market in Santa Barbara, and I'd put out my guitar case, and I'd test out these little ditty songs that I would write, and I would get a couple of avocados, a bit of pistachios, and, like, fifteen bucks. That was a lot of money for me."
Imagine if all popstars were paid only in fruit and nuts. Or Cadbury's Fruit & Nut!

Anyway, she also says she believes in aliens in that interview, so who knows what's going on.
