Jessie J thinks The X Factor relies too much on "gimmicks"

  • April 2, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Jessie J has politely dashed Simon Cowell's hopes of her defecting to The X Factor from The Voice, referring to the ITV show as 'gimmicky'.

Talking to The Mirror about how difficult it can be in the music industry and how The Voice aims to prepare people for that, Jessie said: "It’s bloody hard and we don’t want them to just have 12 months of a career. This is about getting them on the ladder for the long run. The Voice isn’t about gimmicks. X Factor rely on that and that’s their thing… but it’s not our thing."

She also reiterated how her and The Voice are the perfect match, adding: "It’s the show that represents everything I am about."

You can watch Jessie and the other 'mentors' spin around on big red chairs in a non-gimmicky way every Saturday night at 19:00 on BBC 1.
