Icona Pop will release their debut album in the UK with brand new songs

  • March 20, 2013
  • Sam Hine

ICONAIcona Pop have confirmed to Popjustice that they'll release their debut album in the UK later in the summer — and it'll include a load of new songs.

The above-average duo had a chat with us yesterday about the reworked version of their album, which is already out in some countries that aren't the UK.

"It’s not gonna be 15 similar songs," Aino said. "It’s gonna be 15 really different songs and we’re gonna take some old songs with us because we want people to hear that we’ve been through a journey when it comes to the music."

"We still do pop music," she continued, "but it’s with a lot of influences from other genres and stuff like that."

'Lovers To Friends' is a reference for the new tracks, they say, with Aino explaining that "there's a charm to heartbreaking songs and that's what you'll hear more of on the next album".

Caroline adds: "A lot of people have only heard ‘I Love It’ so I think it will definitely be an album where people get under our skin a little bit more. It’s going to be a very honest album, where it’s basically Aino and me around the world figuring a lot of stuff out. I mean we’ve been doing this for four years now. And it’s been a journey and you’re definitely gonna hear that on the album."
