Florence Welch has covered 'Stand By Me' for a video game trailer

Florence

Florence 'Florence' Welch has covered Ben E King's obscure 1961 curio 'Stand By Me' for the trailer of the new Final Fantasy computer game.

Of course she has.

Watch and listen below if you've got the time (her bit comes in about halfway through):

This is all very well, but surely there's a ludicrous quote from the '+' The Machine frontwoman to go with it?

Yes. Yes there is.

“I’ve always seen Final Fantasy as mythical, beautiful and epic,” she mused in a statement (as quoted here), curiously leaving out the word 'lucrative'.

“‘Stand by Me’ is one of the greatest songs probably of all time and you can’t really improve on it, you just have to make it your own. For me it was just about bringing the song into the world of Florence and the Machine and the world of Final Fantasy.”

Remember when Global Songstress Leona Lewis was in an advert for Final Fantasy? Good times.
