Florence & The Machine's new album is influenced by dead things

  • May 23, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Florence Welch has told NYLON magazine that the forthcoming Florence & The Machine album has been influenced by "Things that you can't touch: ghosts and rumours, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream."

Work began on the album earlier this year with producer Paul Epworth, with a release date yet to be confirmed.

In the interview, Welch also claims that lyrically there will be a lot of "dark metaphors" and that despite the fact she's in a stable relationship there's still a lot going on.

"I've still got issues to deal with. I'm going to be 25 and I feel like I've got to be a grown-up now. I feel like your life is always a battle between safety and freedom" she explained.
