Beyoncé's directing a documentary about herself

  • November 27, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Modest singer of songs Beyoncé will direct and star in a documentary all about Beyoncé, it's been announced.

The film will premiere on HBO on February 16 and will combine personal behind-the-scenes stuff shot by Beyoncé herself as well as some onstage footage of her having a bit of a dance.

The as yet untitled documentary "sheds light on her childhood in Houston, with home movies revealing the close bond she built with her family and charts the challenges Beyoncé felt when she decided to manage her career and build her own company, Parkwood Entertainment," HBO said in a statement.

Beyoncé meanwhile is just happy to have found a suitable home for her vision.

"HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity. Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home," she mused.
