Popworldcupjustice: Chile vs Australia

CHILE V AUSTRALIA

Guest referee:
Bright Light Bright Light — popstar

Chile32 Javiera Mena — ‘Espada’

“This video is like the product of a mind almost remembering the best scenes from lots of pop videos, but remembering them a bit wrong through a cheap porno filter. There are nice nods to Kylie, Pet Shop Boys, Snap and La Roux, and I really enjoyed her snout and CGI tail, the hand popping out of her fanny, and the Scissor Sisters legs making a little cameo towards the end. I could imagine Ronika and Fear Of Tigers doing an amazing English language version of this. Chile have an indie popstar!”

Australia32 Justice Crew — ‘Que Sera’

“Seriousface — which one might suspect I would like given comments on my own videos — but this is real old piss isn’t it. Where Chile brings fun, colour and weird interpretation, this is extremely literal and the lead singer looks a bit like Manilla Luzone. And while I love her I don’t think that’s the look intended. 'At the end of the day some you win some you don’t' — soz Australia. For a country renowned for a world famous female popstar, I wouldn’t expect them to be trumped by Chile’s pretty fun pop.”

Bright Light Bright Light's full time score:

Chile 1 — Australia 0
