ARGENTINA V BELGIUM

Guest referee: Jessica from Neon Jungle — Popstar

Argentina32 Theme tune to Verano del '98

“If you think the opening credits for teen soap Verano del 98 (or “Summer of 98”) look slightly familiar that’s because the creators admit it was a total rip-off of Dawson’s Creek. They saw the pilot before it aired in America and thinking it wasn’t going to be shown, created their own Argentinian version. Amazing. Like Dawson’s Creek, Verano del 98 features a cast of suspiciously old-looking teenagers, and has a summery theme tune about living in the moment — the line “It is today not tomorrow” is repeated. It’s kind of catchy.”

Belgium32 Theme tune to Thuis

“Rock singer and Belgian Idol 2003 winner Peter Evrard was once famous for covering songs by Nirvana. Now, however, he sings the theme tune for the most popular Dutch-speaking Belgian soap Thuis (“At Home”), as a duet with actress/singer Sofie van Moll. Though he gets a bit growly on the chorus, it’s not exactly rock 'n' roll, with a video mainly featuring teddy bears and toffee apples."

Jessica's full time score:

Argentina 2 — Belgium 1
