Take Me Out

We mentioned this 'idea' briefly pon de Twitter once but the time has now come to flesh it out so that an opportunistic record label can get it all sorted in time for Christmas.

To start off with, the facts:

1. Take Me Out is brilliant and lots of people like it.

2. Paddy McGuinness is also brilliant if you ignore Paddy's TV Guide and lots of people like him. (We saw him from a couple of tables away at the Brits last week and it was one of the highlights of the evening.) (No offence Ben Howard.)

3. We are entering a new golden age of the novelty single, as proved by 'Gangnam Style', 'Call Me Maybe', 'Thrift Shop' and 'Lightning Bolt'.

So here is what we are proposing. A Take Me Out album. Paddy is lead vocalist, and the Take Me Out Beauties are the backing singers. We have two singles then an album.

Single 1: Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out'

Listen to this and tell us a Paddy-led 'romp' wouldn't be perfect.

Right? Right. You know he'd happily dress as an angry rabbit for the 'crosshair' line in the video.

Single 2: Belinda Carlisle's 'Leave A Light On'

The Take Me Out Beauties would take lead vocals on this one.

That has to be one of pop's all-time greats, doesn't it?

Album: Working title 'Let The Stocking See The Filler'

We're not going to do a full tracklisting because we're all busy people but you know it would have to include a singalong cover of this.

We'd also expect the album to include a cover of Olly Murs' 'Troublemaker', as well as various songs in which the Take Me Out Beauties split off into various K‑pop-style sub-units.

Conclusion

We present this idea as a gift to the music industry as our way of saying thank you for so many years of great music. Best of luck to whoever picks this one up!
