An iTunes update that won't take half an hour to download

  • October 24, 2008
  • Popjustice

Further to our story yesterday about the UK iTunes Music Store censoring words like 'hot' and 'lesbian', Apple got in touch first thing this morning to explain that…

»
They saw it themselves just after we posted the story yesterday.

» They had a word checker (for potentially
offensive words) which was causing problems, but the new one they'd just started using was having some teething trouble.

» It's basically down to a glitch in the databasing system which is currently being fixed.

»
Fuck may well be censored but bum and hot won't.

» Gay and lesbian are "of course fine everywhere" but Apple can't vouch for how many cunts and fucks get through in respective territories because different countries' iTunes Stores have different good and bad words.

So there you have it.
