A Dame covering Pink is for life, not just for Christmas

  • July 12, 2007
  • Popjustice

The only thing we remember about Christmas 2006 is that Shirley Bassey had a party in a ice palace, invited some women of varying ages who all shopped in the same high street chain, and yelled Pink's 'Get The Party Started' at her surprised guests.

Clearly a total stranger to phrase 'making hay while the Sun shines', Dame 'The Dame' Shirley is only releasing the song now, and has made a video to go withi it. It's quite fancy even if Bassey's contribution to the video clearly took no more than 30 minutes to
film and was no doubt done up against a sheet in her front room.

She does a very good job of looking as if she's having the time of her life but if you catch her just right there's a glint in her eyes which clearly says 'someone will hang for this'. Basically what we have here is a 70-year-old woman singing about rushing on ecstasy. Perhaps she has double dropped, perhaps she has put them up her bottom. So many unanswered questions. But there's no real reason to grumble.
