Don't expect Ed Sheeran's next album to mess with the formula too much

  • August 14, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Basically, Ed Sheeran's quite happy to make the same album again as long as it keeps selling.

Having a chat with MTV after his stirring performance at the Olympics closing ceremony last night, he said: "I think I'm gonna keep building on what I've done. Don't fix it if it isn't broken."

"I loved the music that I tour and play and write," he continued. "I think it would be foolish to create something that I wasn't totally happy with. So I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and building on what I've built so far."

This is all very well, but what does he make of his burgeoning success in America?

"I mean it's awesome to be able to have an album that ended up in the top 5 and ended up being a minor hit so far. We're still working on it right now," he mused. "But to do that without a hit single … it just gives a lot of space for songs like 'The A Team' and 'Lego House' to work. It's going well."

So there you have it.
