Don't bore us, get to a slightly remixed chorus

"Roxette have a new single," JakeMagnus from the Popjustice forum told us in a message yesterday morning. This was not news to us. We have been struggling to get excited about 'the return of Roxette' for some time now, and we have not quite managed to find time to play the copy of their new album sitting on our desk. Actually it might already be in The Pile Of Doom.

But that was not all JakeMagnus had to say.  "It's got a brilliant remix for the radio version," he added.

Well we might be ambivalent towards them but we are not opposed, necessarily, to the idea of Roxette. Moreover we are fans of both brilliant remixes and radio versions. So we gave the Basslow remake of 'Speak To Me' a spin. And now thanks to the wonders of the internet, so can you. Here is a YouTubular link.

IN ITS FAVOUR
» A couple of amazing 'Roxette moments'.
» Uses that sound that's in about 80% of all songs you hear on the radio at the moment (or 96% if you listen to Capital).

NOT IN ITS FAVOUR IN FACT LITERALLY OUTSIDE ITS FAVOUR
» Two too many boring bits.

IN SUMMARY
Thank you JakeMagnus for sending over the link. We will give the YouTube link a few more listens, we will close the browser window, then we will never deliberately listen to the song again. If an MP3 arrives in our inbox we will probably put it into our iTunes then watch it gradually sail down our Recently Added playlist, occasionally played when we forget to press stop after listening to the songs we add after it, and one day next year and then five years later it might pop up when we're in shuffle mode. And that is the role 'Speak To Me' will play in our lives. A minor role, but a role nonetheless.
