A very splendid La Roux album track for the weekend

  • April 24, 2009
  • Popjustice

Today's Song Of The Day is something a bit special.

One of the really enjoyable things about the La Roux album listening experience is that the more you get to know the songs the more it becomes clear that behind the superstylised bravado of moments like the 'In For The Kill' video is a proper breathing person whose heart gets broken and who went through all sorts of grim and horrible teenage dramas like the rest of us.

One of the most human moments on 'La Roux' is 'Cover My Eyes' which features the London Community Gospel Choir, a softer vocal turn from Elly, and the well-worn but never out of date lyrical subject matter of spotting the object of your affections out and about with someone else.

'Cover My Eyes' is one of those songs you sort of need to hear all the way through but if you promise to be gentle with a 30 second clip give this a whirl.
