Like many of you, we saw the tracklist for the latest Pet Shop Boys 'Disco' album and thought it was a joke.
Well.
We've got it on in the office at the moment and, do you know what? It's really good. If one puts aside one's completeist tendencies and accepts 'Disco 4' as a collection of dance music which sounds like pop music and pop music which sounds like dance music — eight tracks which work well on their own terms and next to each other — it's a good listen.
Like most albums we suppose it depends on whether you like the songs on it (a controversial view, but one we think stands up to scrutiny) but, looking at the Popjustice iTunes library, all eight of the songs already have a '*****' rating. Which we suppose makes it a 5/5 album.
So there you go.
