After three decades on the job they should totally be in the dumper by now. It should have all gone wrong. The band should exist in the grotty netherworld of cash-in hits tours and overpriced boxsets. Their new music should be terrible.
But here we are with a brilliant brand new single. Waiting in the wings, meanwhile, is a classic Pet Shop Boys album called 'Super'.
