  • At the age of 17, Katy Perry released and recorded a Christian gospel-rock album. Not that many people bought it.

  • Her first major hit was the not-in-any-way-gospel-rock 'I Kissed A Girl' which was very good.

  • 'Hot N Cold' proved beyond doubt her ability to produce solidly brilliant pop singles.

  • Her second album, 'Teenage Dream', is a modern classic and spewed out a shitload (music biz term) of Number One singles.

  • In fact, it was so good that in March 2012 she released a new version of it, nearly two years after the original, with this fairly amazing song on it.

  • She is very funny and interesting in interviews.
