This Michael Jackson tribute concert is having some 'teething problems'

  • August 16, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

The Michael Forever Tribute Concert scheduled to take place in Wales in October and featuring the likes of Kiss and Craig David has been threatened with legal action.

The lawyer for Jackson's estate has sent a letter (which you can read here) to Global Live Events, the organisers of the 'party', with a list of concerns.

Chief among them is the addition of Kiss to the line-up (which also includes Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis and JLS), seeing as Gene Simmons was reported to have said some rather upsetting things about Jackson following his death.

They also ask for more information about where the money from ticket sales is going and draw attention to a slightly worrying clause on the terms and conditions on the tickets which claims that fans can't claim a refund if "if 50% or more of the number of contracted artistes attend and perform".

There is also a suggestion that the whole thing might be illegal in terms of "intellectual property that is controlled by the Estate". In other words, they might not be able to use any images of Jackson or, er, his songs.
