The Voice US is all about the big swinging chairs

  • May 14, 2012
  • Mikey

Gimmick-free talent show The Voice US has come up with a cunning plan to beat The X Factor when the programmes 'go head-to-head' this Autumn.

The answer: more spinny chairs.

The rotating chairs used in the 'blind' auditions have proven popular with audiences and so they will now feature as part of the battle rounds too. Producers have absolutely no idea how the famous chairs will be be integrated yet but they do know they want to see more of them.

NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced: "We know people love the revolving chairs, and so we have a plan to get them into the battle rounds. There are also changes and tweaks in the format that will make it even better and more competitive."

The Voice US will return in the Autumn — enjoy your brief reign Jermaine Paul — and again in Spring 2013.

Meanwhile in the UK, The Voice enjoyed its lowest ratings yet on Saturday night, with viewing figures falling below 6m.
