The Official Chart will now be announced on a Friday instead of a Sunday

  • March 24, 2015
  • Brad O'Mance

Charts

The UK's Official Chart will be 'unveiled' on Fridays instead of Sundays as of the summer, it's been announced.

The move makes sense really seeing as the release day for new, er, releases will also move from Sundays to Fridays around that exact same as yet unspecified time.

The new chart will be announced on Radio 1 by Greg James between the hours of 4pm and 6pm, with the full chart then going up on the Official Charts website at 6pm.

There will also be a televised chart rundown on CBBC as of May 10.

This is all very well, but what does Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot have to say for himself?

"This is an exciting new era for the Official Singles Chart — following the integration of streams, with the move to a new, more high profile slot. BBC Radio 1 has been the home of the UK’s Official Singles Chart for more than 40 years and we are delighted that they are as excited about future plans for the chart as we are."

Cheers Martin!
