Patrick Wolf is not influenced by the charts in any way

  • June 20, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Patrick Wolf has said that when recording his latest album, 'Lupercalia', he mainly listened to Britney Spears and Ke$ha.

Talking to Billboard, the 'Vulture' hitmaker claimed he avoided listening to too much music as he's "very prone to influence", but while in LA to work on the album he knew that listening to the charts would be fine.

"What will never be an influence on me is what is on the charts, and so when I went to LA to work on some of the album I listened to a lot of what was on the radio, Britney Spears or Ke$ha," he said. "It's just entertainment, it doesn't enter my brain at all."

So, what does? "When I turn over the radio and there's a mariachi band on Mexican radio," Wolfo added, "I immediately thought I'd like to make the album as a mariachi album."

Blimey.
