'Part Of Me' is definitely not about Russell Brand

  • March 11, 2012
  • Mikey

Katy Perry has stated quite clearly that 'Part Of Me' was not written about Russell Brand.

Speaking about the song to MTV, Perry 'quashed' the gossip surrounding the its origins.

"I wrote it two years ago," said Katy, "which is funny because everybody is like, 'God, it sounds so current'."

Katy said that "some people" she works with encouraged her to capitalise on the publicity by saying that the song was written about her divorce. However, the singer says she refused because she is "not a douchebag".

She didn't mention inserting that reference to the diamond ring though, which is a shame because that's the main thing people are talking about re the whole Russell Brand thing.
