One Direction fans under a certain age might not get in to their stadium 'gigs'

  • April 16, 2014
  • Brad O'Mance

One Direction newOne Direction fans under the age of 12 who have brought standing tickets for the band's forthcoming 'gig' in Sunderland won't be allowed in due to the venue's safety rules.

The city's Stadium of Light — the first stop on the Where We Are world tour — says under-12s will not be allowed to enter if they have a standing ticket, while anyone under the age of 16 has to be with an adult.

Obviously people under 12 with a seated ticket are more than welcome.

But what does head of security and safety at Sunderland, Paul Weir, have to say about it all?

"The age restrictions are laid down by the promoter to ensure the safety of everyone attending the show, which is a very different dynamic to anything we have staged at the Stadium of Light previously," he mused to the BBC.

The first Sunderland show is May 28, 'FYI'.
