Daft Punk are performing at the MTV VMAs by the looks of things

  • August 7, 2013
  • Brad O'Mance

daft-punkIt looks like Daft Punk will be making a 'surprise' appearance at this month's MTV VMAs.

The publicity-shy duo were supposed to perform on US TV show The Colbert Report last night but pulled out with two hours' notice, prompting the host Stephen Colbert to say the following (as quoted here):

"Here’s the story: it’s a true story. We booked click and clack over here about a month ago [HE MEANS DAFT PUNK]. This network is owned by Viacom, which is also the owner of MTV."

"Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Don’t tell anyone, because fun fact: no one told me until two hours ago," he continued.

Mind you, they managed to pull together a pretty intricate video featuring various Hollywood actors, plus get Robin Thicke to replace them with just two hours' notice so WHO KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED.
