Madonna has said she will use her 'gig' in St. Petersburg in August to speak out against a new law conÂdemning "homoÂsexual propaganda".
This week, lawmakers in the Russian city passed legisÂlaÂtion crimÂinÂalÂising "public action aimed at proÂpaÂgandÂising sodomy, lesÂbiÂanÂism, bisexuÂalÂism, and transÂgenÂderÂism among minors".
However, they hadn't antiÂcipÂated on "freedom fighter" Madonna wading in. She today declared: "My show. My songs. My work. My art. Is all about freedom of expresÂsion, freedom to choose to speak to act always with humanity and compassion."
"I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community and to give strength and inspirÂaÂtion to anyone who is or feels oppressed," she promised. "I don't run away from adversity. I will speak during my show about this ridicuÂlous atrocity."
Madonna debuted her latest homoÂsexual proÂpaÂganda in the video for 'Girl Gone Wild' today. Russian politiÂcians look away now.
