Justin Timberlake says going solo was hard but he just had to do it, you know

  • May 13, 2014
  • Brad O'Mance

Justin Timberlake newJustin Timberlake's said his decision to leave *NSYNC was one of the "best/worst" things he's ever done.

(He doesn't mention it, but we think recording 'I'm Lovin' It' might be one of the others.)

Having a chat as part of this Oprah documentary thing (as quoted here), the 'TKO' hitmaker said he found himself unable to ignore his morning urges as time went on.

“I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out on my own and try my own hand as a musician just by myself," he mused.

"It was happening all around me: ‘Why wouldn’t you ride this out? You’re the biggest group in the world. Why would you walk away from this?’”

But, as we know, he did it anyway and it worked out pretty well actually.

“It’s one of the best/worst things that I have ever done. It was hard to say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing.”

Just like puberty.
