Justin Bieber was booed on stage at the Billboard Music Awards last night

  • May 20, 2013
  • Marc Ridley

justin-bieber6-e1334142508810-250x244Justin Bieber was booed whilst accepting a 'gong' at the Billboard Music Awards last night.

Justin was collecting the first ever Milestone Award when some members of the audience started booing him.

The award, voted for by fans, recognises artists who have passed particular chart milestones (ie was made up so Justin could get an award). Justin Bieber is the first artist under 19 years old to achieve five number one albums in the US.

According to Digital Spy, Bieber soaked up the 'mixture of applause and booing' before responding with characteristic modesty: "I'm 19 years old. I think I'm doing a pretty good job."

"From my heart I really just want to say it should be about the music, about the craft. This is not a gimmick. I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously."

Which is fair enough really isn't it.

You can watch Justin's appearance for yourself here if you like.
