Chatting to the BBC before 'jetting off' to Baku, The Hump said 'Love Will Set You Free' "has a very strong chance."

"It's a Viennese waltz and waltzes have a romantic feel and people usually dance slow to it. I think this has a great, great chance," declared the 78-year-old, clearly for­get­ting to set his alarm for Poppers O'Clock.

Engelbert did at least display keen under­stand­ing of one element of Eurovision. "It's not a talent com­pet­i­tion," he noted.  "It's a song contest and because of my exper­i­ence of trav­el­ling around the world and being an ambas­sador for my country, I think it stands a good chance."
