Beyoncé's been chatting about why she dumped 'Bow Down' on the internet earlier this year

  • December 18, 2013
  • Brad O'Mance

BeyonceBeyoncé's finally shed some light on why she plonked 'Bow Down' online back in March and basically it was because she thought it was "hot".

"The reason I put out 'Bow Down' is because I woke up, I went into the studio, I had a chant in my head," she explained to iTunes radio (as quoted here).

"It was the Beyoncé that was angry, it was the Beyoncé that felt the need to defend herself and if the song never comes out – okay, I said it! And I listened to it after I finished and I said 'this is hot! Imma put it out!'"

She went on to say that if you have a problem with the song's aggression you should try singing along to it while thinking about someone who's a fucking dick.

"Anyone who says that is disrespectful — just imagine the person that hates you, imagine the person that doesn't believe in you and look in the mirror and say 'bow down, bitch!' I guarantee you feel gansta! So listen to the song from that point of view if you didn't like it before."

She also had some kind words for Sia and 'Pretty Hurts'.

"It's really difficult to find a song with such a strong message that doesn't feel preachy. Sia is such a genius, the second I heard the song I'm like I have to sing this song. I don’t care how hard I have to fight for the song, this is my song!"

It all worked out okay in the end though didn't it.
