Stop listening to that pop rubbish and buy something on Smithsonian Folkways

  • April 23, 2007
  • Popjustice

Readers! Pay attention to what Amazon.com have to say.

That is right. They have actually used the phrase 'pop pap'. But what is this whole 'go indie' thing about?

Let's click through and find out.

Now, we've listened to some of this 'indie music' in the past and we can tell you now that it is a right old racket.

But we can also tell you, having spent over several hours in the company of indie musicians and fans, that a cash-hungry company who put as much effort into selling selling memory sticks and pots and pans as they do 'indie music' suddenly telling the world to 'go indie' on the basis that they've just made a reasonable amount of cash flogging Modest Mouse and Bright Eyes records is a little at odds with How Things Are Supposed To Work. We are going to double check with an indie expert later but we are pretty sure we are right about this.

Having said all that, if you would like to 'go indie', you can 'go indie' by clicking here . 21% off Matador Records releases! Form an orderly queue!
