Fancy watching the 'very slightly festive' video for Joe McElderry's version of 'Last Christmas'?

Now you've had time to mull it over, read on.

In many ways Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' is the perfect song for any X Factor contestant who gives everything to the Syco machine one year only to find themselves fucked right up the arse by the said machine by the time the next winner rolls around. So we were sort-of-thrilled to hear that Joe 'Joe' McElderry would be covering 'Last Christmas' for his latest quick-just-get-it-out-the-door album 'Classic Christmas'.

That's not 'classic' in the "oh that was a classic bit of drugs and bird I had last night" Cocozza sense, it is 'classic' in the 'music favoured by The Borings' sense, although many of the songs on 'Classic Christmas' aren't actually classical at all, but let's not confuse things too much because what we are trying to get across here is a very simple fact: McELDO HAS DONE 'LAST CHRISTMAS' AND THE VIDEO IS QUITELIDERALLY AS CAMP AS CHRISTMAS.

Just imagine Joe singing this to Simon Cowell, a tear in his eye. "But Simon, you said you'd take me to Hollywood and make me the new Zac Efron…"

THE THREE BEST BITS OF THAT VIDEO

1.

"We're here for the spitroast!"

2.

"The foil cups sort of give the game away a bit but I was up until 4am baking and they just kept going wrong and I cried and cried and this was just the best I could do and I'm going to keep on smiling as if I'm not screaming inside so if anyone complains they can just OH GOD CHRISTMAS IS RUINED AGAIN!!!!"

3.

"Don't worry everyone we can start dinner soon, in fact I think that must be Cheryl's car coming up the driveway now… Oh dear it's just Rikki Loney."

Incredible.
