Darren Hayes gig review

  • May 27, 2006
  • Popjustice

We went to see Popjustice columnist Darren Hayes do a pop concert last night.

Here he is on stage.

Fear not viewers, he is not being abducted by aliens, he is simply being a moody 'artiste'.

The rest of the show wasn't very moody at all — it was more like a pantomime, during which pop's Widow Twankey chatted with the audience, told some jokes, set up his own dating agency on stage and, every now and again, played some songs, some of which segued into other hits by Kylie and, er, Nine Inch Nails. ie It was the exact opposite of what you might expect to experience on a Camdenular night out.

At the aftershow Darren bounced up and started talking to us about something or other, but unfortunately we were quite drunk by this point and started going on about his Daft Punk coffee table. Oh dear. :(
