A nice new EP thing from Erik Hassle

  • October 20, 2010
  • Popjustice

The debut album by awkward but awesome Swedish popstar Erik Hassle remains a brilliant collection of unselfconsciously emotive pop tunes. Clearly, Erik's launch in the UK didn't garner* much in the way of success which is a shame because now when we write about his current and future plans a certain type of reader will go "oh well that flopped** why are you still flogging that dead horse etc".

Well yes it did 'flop' but that has nothing to do with its amazingness and nor does it have anything to do with the amazingness (and flashes of amazingness are what we're dealing with here viewers) of the 'Taken' EP, Erik's latest release in Sweden. We've only had a chance to give it a couple of listens — we'll investigate further over the coming days — but there's plenty in these six tracks to please and mildly arouse anyone who fell in love with 'Pieces'.

Naturally one cannot purchase the EP in the United Kingdom, but Erik has put it all in a Soundcloud and here it is.

An enjoyable listen.

* We hate the word garner, apols if you do too
** We hate the word flop, too — as f‑words go it's far worse than fuck
