Three singles in — it's time for a ballad

Well, sort of. Here's the hot-off-the-press video for Calvin Harris' next single, 'Merrymaking At My Place'. Let's take a look.

Notes On The Calvin Harris Video For 'Merrymaking At My Place'.

» It's a bit like Skins.

» Calvin looks quite ginger in this video, don't you think?

» Noise of party guests singing the chorus at the end = amazing. There should have been more of this sort of noise over the top of the whole video.

» Nan's appearance at the end: wasted opportunity for hilarity.

» Seeing as this video probably cost in the region of eighty quid to film, we presume there is enough video budget left over to shoot a second video to run alongside (not instead of) this first one. In the second video, the first scene is identical, with Nan telling Calvin she's staying the night at Gretel's. Then, instead of cutting to Calvin throwing a party in his Nan's house, it cuts to his Nan getting PISSED UP AND LAIRY at Gretel's house and generally having a far better party with her pensioner friends than Calvin does with his young pals. Drugs, rentboys, Zimmer frames out of the window, etc etc. It's 'Last Of The Summer Wine' meets 'Smack My Bitch Up'. Then at the end, Calvin's Nan cleans herself off and goes back to her house, meaning that the final scene of the second video is the same as the final scene of the first. Amazing? Amazing.

» Overall verdict: 6.5/10.
