Popworldcupjustice: Nigeria vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

NIGERIA V BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Guest referee: Little Boots — Popstar

Nigeria32 DJ Switch — 'Someone Like You' (The X Factor)

“To be honest I have to hand it to Obianuju Catherine Udeh, otherwise known as DJ Switch (not to be confused with these two). Its a tough time for the music industry and she clearly understands that being an artist these days is no long just about the music — in fact its preferable to have as many ‘strings to your bow’ as possible with actually being able to write songs landing pretty low down on the pile — so she ups the ante by not only singing AND rapping but adding PAINTING to her repertoire. All at the same time! Unforunately she doesn’t finish the work of art accompanying this performance of Adele, which I was a little disappointed about but I’m sure she can definitely paint really bloody well. Maybe this could start an entire movement of painting popstars. I personally would more than enjoy a mash up of Jools Holland with an element of Art Attack thrown in. Anyway by the end the song had morphed into about three different things and I was left feeling as confused as the Nigerian will.i. am-alike judge, but you definitely can’t knock Switch for lack of originality. ”

Bosnia-and-Herzegovina32 Lukijan Ivanovic — 'My Heart Is Refusing Me' (The X Factor)

“So at first I thought this was actually a clip of Bosnian Big Brother, then I thought Lukijan must be a very small man indeed but actually it turns out he just likes to sit in a giant arm chair. The best bit about this clip is the Bosnian Simon Cowell — who kind of looks like if you papier machéd a tanned Alan Partridge mask very smoothly across Simon Cowell’s actual real face. There’s also a good bit where the lady judge with too much plastic surgery tries really really hard to cry but sadly this seems impossible as her face is entirely frozen. To be fair he does have a decent voice which makes everyone quite weepy and despite the terrible dress sense if you squint really hard he almost looks like a Justin Timberlake impersonator. "

Little Boots' full time score:
