Let's have 'a dialogue' with the YouTube comments on the new Saturdays single

  • August 19, 2013
  • Popjustice

As you are probably aware, The Saturdays' new single 'Disco Love' was on the radio this morning, and as is 'de rigueur', it was chucked on YouTube just after the premiere.

Let's see what they're saying in the YouTube comments.

pj_308

A) The song to which you refer was actually called 'Gentleman', it's an easy mistake to make and it's one we've made ourselves from time to time but please just hold this in mind next time you are attempting to denigrate what is officially the fifth best The Saturdays single. B) Please be aware that the road of life has many unexpected twists and turns, and your claim that you will definitely buy 'Disco Love' fails to take into account the way in which these twists and turns may affect your ability to make the promised purchase.

pj_307

Sadly the next Saturdays Number One is not due until 2019, in keeping with the band's strict One Number One Every Six Years policy. 'Disco Love''s October release date might seem like a long time away but it is not 2019.

pj_306

This song is not perfect. Above average, yes. Very good, yes. Perfect, no — and fucking perfect… Well, we've all had a few drinks by now but let's keep things in perspective. And as we've already established, the lyrics need some work.

pj_305

I want doesn't get.

pj_304

Well yes it is a potential Number One in the same way that anything available for purchase has the potential to be Number One, but as we've already discussed there's a strict six-year rule in place here and these ladies aren't for turning. (NOTE TO POTENTIAL SPONSORS: The Saturdays may be prepared to turn in a series of advertisements and exclusive fan-only gigs supporting the launch of a new range of microwaves, please get in touch with the label to discuss their competitive rates.)

pj_303

The best The Saturdays are is 'All Fired Up'.

pj_302

This comment is in response to some chat about the October release date tacitly encouraging downloads. Sadly of course while most people do live according to a moral code, 'not downloading a Saturdays radio rip' comes some way below stuff like 'remember not to kill people', so it's possible that, yes, The Saturdays may lose a number of sales by holding off the release of 'Disco Love'. Of course the flipside is that a decent 'radio plot' will build interest over the next couple of months meaning that the lost sales will be more than made up for by a suggestible proportion of eg Heat Radio listeners going "oh I've heard this every three hours for the last two months, I suppose that means I sort of like it".

pj_301

More chat about the October release. We admire the optimism in the first comment.

pj_309

NO.

pj_299

"NO".
