Robbie only rejoined Take That because he couldn't get a hit on his own :(

  • November 2, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Robbie Williams has been chatting away again about how he couldn't write a hit for a while but now he's back and everything's okay (for now).

"After the first four or five albums, when you are at the top of the pile, suddenly you start to hear, 'This is shit, Robbie is shit’," he mused to The Sun.

"And then you start to think 'Oh God, maybe I am shit and I should try something else and be interesting.' So I went off to try to be interesting and I didn’t write a hit."

Poor 'Rudebox'.

Luckily, Robbie had quite a good plan b, so he just went and did that for a bit.

"So I thought, 'Fuck you — if you don’t think I can write a single then I’m going to rejoin Take That.’ And I did."

But it's all okay again now (or at least until this new album cycle is out the way): "I get what my purpose is and what I want to do. I want to write big pop hits, sing in stadiums and have people smile and rejoice again. I’m still young enough to conquer the world — and I’m going to try."

In other news 'Candy' is still fucking amazing isn't it.
