Credibility Cardle has been talking about his new album.

  • October 12, 2012
  • Ciaran Gaynor

Credible singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Cardle has been talking to STV about his new album and saying things like “we just let the music do its thing".

Comparing the new album with his debut Matt says "it’s a lot more uplifting this album, more upbeat". However don't start anticipating a banging, poppers o'clock classic just yet as he goes on to say that the album is also "quite melancholy because a lot of the content isn’t the happiest". Although there again he continues to say that while the content 'isn't the happiest', the album "doesn’t come across that way.”

While that all may sound a bit confusing, you just have to trust the "…Baby One More Time" interpreter's maverick spirit and go with it, don't you.

Elesewhere in the interview, Cardle discusses the album's difficult gestation. “There’s this saying you can be too close to something and I think at times I did get too close to the record", he opines, before adding "I was writing it and recording all the instruments."

But being a credible artist with total creative control over your art isn't easy. As Cardle says, "the mixing stage is really difficult because you’re really pulling it apart and putting it together again, and you’re hearing little bits of the song over and over again, and you get a bit sick of it."
