The salient points


  • A*M*E is originally from Sierra Leone but now lives in South London.

  • Gary Barlow signed her to his record label, make of which what you will.

  • Like many young people she dreamed of being a popstar. Unlike most people she actually made it happen and released her first single when she was 17 years old.

  • The not exactly terrible 'City Lights' was produced by fellow teenage 'whizz' MNEK and features a rap by Barthoven (MNEK's younger brother).

  • The video had a certain amateurish charm (ie it looks a bit cheap but is still quite watchable).

  • She knows her way around a tune, let's be fair.

  • Rather than a boring press release her first single arrived with - sound the positioning siren - A*M*E's own fanzine.
