The list of the most successful songwriters of last year in the UK has been published

  • February 12, 2014
  • Brad O'Mance

maxmartinThe most successful songwriters according to UK sales in 2013 have been announced and the winners are: Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

:(

The list was compiled by Music Week using sales data from the Official Charts Company and aims to recognise people who have written songs that have then gone on to make some money.

As you can see from the list below, Pharrell had quite a good year, as did Ryan Tedder, Dan from Bastille and Max Bloody Martin.

Bit weird that Dr Luke isn't on the list given that he helped write 'Roar' and 'Wrecking Ball', but there we go.

1. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
2. Pharrell Williams
3. The Smeezingtons
4. Ryan Tedder
5. Mike Rosenberg (Passenger)
6. Dan Smith (Bastille)
7. Avicii
8. Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel (Daft Punk)
9. Jeremy Fraites and Wesley Schultz (The Lumineers)
10. Max Martin
